Declutter My Home: about Laura
Declutter My Home Laura Moore
Laura Moore, M.Ed

I have been helping people de-clutter, organize, and rearrange their homes for more comfort and control since I was young, before organizing became a profession in the mid-1980s.

Over the years, I've come to understand the vital relationship between people's environment and their feeling "at home:" When not emotionally or physically tripping over your stuff at home, you're better able to respond to life's joys and challenges, more at ease in the world, more "at home" with yourself. Clearing your clutter makes room for more enjoyment in your life.

Sometimes I'm called a clutter-therapist, but as a consultant, workshop leader, and author, I show people how to enjoy de-cluttering, the essential (yet often ignored) first step to getting organized. I focus on how people think because when thinking clearly, the emotional burden lifts, and it's possible to apply new skills with confidence. People can take better care of their home not because they have to, but because they want to — even after I leave.

Always curious about what makes people tick, I've studied numerous therapies and lifestyles, including Neuro-linguistic programming, conflict resolution and negotiation, and lived at the Findhorn Community in northern Scotland.

Previously, I ran my own marketing company to benefit health and financial services; invested in residential real estate, renovating and renting homes; and traveled extensively here and abroad.

In 2008, I wrote and published, Paper Clarity at a Glance: What to Keep and When to Shred to help people make good decisions about their personal documents and records (now on Amazon). I am currently writing ClutterClarity: It's Your Mess, But Not All Your Fault, a new paradigm to clarify the numerous misunderstandings of clutter, clutter-clearing, and the over-rated task of organizing.
